School Council Election

January 31, 2023

Dear Parents/Families,

We will hold an election by secret ballot for three parent representatives to our School Council this coming Thursday, February 2, 2023. A voting booth will be opened here at the school between the hours of 8:30am and 6:00pm.

We thank the following five individuals who have offered themselves up for election:

Patti Barnes

Hello, I’m Patti Barnes. I was born and raised in Labrador West and continue to have a passion for our province and its wild outdoors. My family and I enjoy spending time at our cabin and exploring our beautiful province. I have been a member of the RNC in NL for 16 years and I am passionate about keeping our communities safe for our children to grow and learn. I am heavily involved in organized sports and I enjoy volunteering with organizations that support our youth and community. I look forward to being a valuable member of Beachy Cove Elementary school council and working with the members to keep our school community that we are proud to have our children attend.

Nicole Hurley

Hello! My name is Nicole Hurley. My husband and I have two children, Sam (grade four) and Nora (grade one) and we have been members of this remarkable BCE community since 2019.

I have a demanding career as a lawyer, however not nearly as demanding as keeping up with sports, music, homework, meals and entertainment each day. I am proud that my children attend this school and am grateful for the experiences they are given. I work tirelessly for my own children and I would be honored to help improve the lives and education of our tiniest citizens.

Vicki Jones

My name is Vicki. I am mom to two beautiful girls who are attending, and will be attending, Beachy Cove. I am a registered nurse of eight years and I have recently started my own mobile blood collection company. I would like to be more involved in the school community and have thus shared my intent to do so!

Sarah Payne

Sarah Payne is a pediatric nurse and mother of two children, Catherine and Madelyn. Sarah’s eldest daughter is in second grade at Beachy Cove Elementary, and her youngest daughter will commence in 2025. Sarah has been a pediatric nurse for the past 15 years and has been a member of the Children and Women’s Health Leadership Team since 2019. Sarah is a very effective leader and a strong advocate for safe and high-quality patient care.

Sarah is passionate about building brighter futures for our children. She is confident that she has the knowledge, skills, and abilities to work collaboratively with education professionals, parents, students, and other community members to further enhance the learning environment for the precious children, our future leaders, at Beachy Cove Elementary.

Allison Winter

I’m Allison (Allie) Winter. I’m a new parent at Beachy Cove this year with my son Owen in Mrs. Dicker’s Kindergarten class. I’m a Registered Social Worker and I work as a Manager in the Mental Health and Addictions program at Eastern Health. I have a variety of board and committee experience both professionally and as a volunteer in the community. Beachy Cove has always been a special place to me, (I was a member of the first kindergarten class) and I would love the opportunity to contribute and engage with the school community as a part of the council.

Thank you for your continued support.

Aubrey
