Bussing Update

September 4, 2020

Dear Parents/Families:

We thank all our everyonoe for their patience and understanding as we prepared the bussing process for the start up of our school year. An email has now been sent to all families eligible for bussing under the “46 Passenger Model” based on the physical address on file as of June 30, 2020 to the e-mail addresses on file as of March 2020. Families receiving these emails are not required to respondUNLESS they are relinquishing their seat. In this case, please contact Carolyn Lethbridge via email (carolynlethbridge@nlesd.ca) as soon as possible so the seat can be made available for another family.

Aside from those e-mail addresses that bounced, if you did not receive an e-mail, it means you don’t have a seat at present for the for the foreseeable future.

The provincial government has committed to increasing bussing capacity to normal numbers by the end of September. As bussing capacity increases and seats become available, we will be adding students to bus runs and communicating with families as quickly as the district will allow.

Bus runs for the opening day of school can be found here and we ask families to note the time of pick up and drop off.

At this time all courtesy stops and courtesy seats remain cancelled. This includes stops at child care centres and providers. Should this change, we will notify all families immediately.

For the families of our newest learners, please note that bussing for kindergarten students begins on Monday, September 14, 2020.

Once again, we extend our thanks and appreciation to Carolyn for completing this massive piece of work in short order.  She has been working feverishly all week to make all of these bussing arrangements as seamless as possible.

And, thank you for your kind support and cooperation as we collectively make our way in these most uncertain times.
